First Shoe Tested in New Balance Sports Research Lab
New Balance will extend the breadth of its NBx running collection this fall with the addition of the New Balance 1906, a supportive cushioning shoe for the new and active runner. The 1906 will launch this October 2009 and retail for $199.95.
Featuring the innovative N-ergy cushioning technology, the 1906 provides responsive cushioning, a smooth transition, and impact force distribution, reducing the number of “hot spots” in the shoe. A full length ABZORB strobel board combined with ABZORB FL and an Ortholite insert ensures a comfortable, cushioned ride, while an NLOCK® support system provides enhanced mid-foot structure, and an Ndurance® heel crash pad offers durability. A BIOCOOL Phantom Liner™ offers moisture management and blister-free comfort, and the New Balance SURE LACE™ keeps shoes tied. 360° reflectivity ensures safety during early morning and evening runs. The 1906 is built on New Balance’s new PL-1 performance last which provides a more formfitting feel with a more streamlined look.
The 1906 was the first New Balance shoe to undergo all of its testing in the recently opened New Balance Sports Research Lab. Lab testing and research helped shape the design of each iteration of the New Balance 1906 to ensure it had optimal cushioning and stability while being perceived as best in class in performance.
